About the organizers

The RGC9 is organized by College of Horticulture, Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (JAAS) and Nanjing Botanical Garden • Institute of botany Jiangsu province and Chinese Academy of Sciences (NBG • JIB). NAU was the first Chinese University where the 4-year degree in Horticulture was offered. Currently the College of Horticulture is engaged actively in Rosaceae genomics research, including pear genomics, strawberry genomics and epigenetics, breeding, apple disease resistance, Prunus mume germplasm center, JAAS has strong breeding programs in peach genetics/breeding, pear breeding, and strawberry germplasm collections. NBG • JIB has a strong program in Rubus breeding.

The RGC9 will be convened by Professors Zong-Ming (Max) Cheng, and Shaoling Zhang. Dr. Cheng’s research in Rosaceae genomics focuses on apple and strawberry disease resistance. He is a Fellow of American Society for Horticultural Sciences, and the Editor-in-Chief of Horticulture Research. Dr. Zhang is the Chief Scientist of the Pear Production System in China, and has led effect of releasing the first pear genome sequence.
